Letter to the Editor
Hamilton Spectator
What a pleasure it is to see Isabelle Harmer featured in your article "Decades
of fighting to save the planet." I met Isabelle through my involvement
with Citizens Opposed to Paving the Escarpment (COPE) and have continually
been impressed by her dedication and diplomacy in the fight to save
the escarpment from destruction and sprawl - whether it's in the form
of a highway or a quarry.
It has been a few years since COPE's inception and throughout, Isabelle
has been a positive influence. With the Environment Minister's quiet
approval of the environmental assessment terms of reference for the
Niagara to GTA corridor in June 2006, COPE is counting on the continued
support of Isabelle in our efforts to save the escarpment.
There are many of us who do what we can with the time we have to keep
the escarpment in tact for future generations. Isabelle's continued
level of commitment is admirable.
Thank you to Isabelle and all the other unsung heroes. Please continue
to do what you do.
Sincerely,
Susan McMaster
Co-Chair
